KENT V LION CUBS, PREVIEW

LEICESTER look to secure the National League title when they travel to Kent in the second leg of the Grand Final tonight (Monday, 6.30).

The Roger Webster Lion Cubs head to Central Park with a healthy 28-point lead from last week’s clash at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena, and they are therefore strong favourites for the silverware.

And it could be a golden week for the Cubs, who also have the KO Cup Final to look forward to with home and away clashes against Belle Vue.

The first priority is to complete the job at Sittingbourne, where they won in regular league competition earlier in the season albeit with both teams having very different-looking line-ups.

Kent will undoubtedly pose a stronger threat on their own circuit than they did at Leicester, where the Cubs were far more confident in terms of attacking the track.

But in a situation where 32 points on the night will make them Champions, the Lion Cubs can take comfort from the fact that their lowest score in any fixture this season is 38.

Manager Dave Howard said: “It’s certainly more of a lead than we thought we’d get from the first leg, but as we always say, you’ve got to do the job at the other end.

“We’ll treat Monday night like we do every meeting, and we will go there thinking we want to win on the night.

“So we’ll treat it as a one-off and hopefully we’ll get the right result at the end after we had such a fantastic first leg.”

KENT: Anders Rowe, Jordan Jenkins, Dan Gilkes, Rob Ledwith, Drew Kemp, Alex Spooner, Jake Mulford.
LEICESTER: Ellis Perks, Luke Ruddick R/R, Joe Thompson, Dan Thompson, Danyon Hume, Josh Embleton, Ryan Terry-Daley.
